MN5726 Nervex Pro Road Race/TT Mark Edwards

mark-edwards-12

This 23” Reynolds 531 Double butted frame is presently one of the last top quality specialist Road Race/TT frames with spearpoint topeyes. A year later we begin to see the first wrapovers using a scarf joint. It thus helps to show the development of Major’s technique and style. The rear dropouts look like Cyclo.

The frame is constructed with a full set of nicely filed early pattern Nervex Pro lugs retaining the head lug rims. There are pencil seatstays with the spearpoint topeyes and straight seatstay and chainstay bridges, the former being reinforced. The fork shape is typical of his pre 60’s period and the oval blades are fitted to a cast Milremo crown, again a favourite in this period. There are teardrop fork dropouts.

Braze-ons are limited to rear derailleur BB guide and chainstay cable stop, pump pegs under the top tube accompanied bye rear brake cable stops at 4 o’clock. There are mudguard eyes on the dropouts. This arrangement allows for most setups for gears using band ons.

Mark has chosen to finish it in a 70’s/ 80’s style with seat tube gothic script and a contrasting head panel. Very smartly done.
